My dad was a comic book artist and my mum a writer, so I grew up creating stories. On top of that, my primary school teacher was obsessed with theatre so I spent more time on the stage than anywhere else.
At the age of fourteen I taught myself how to edit videos in a failed attempt to make my own cartoon (failed because I can’t draw, so I was trying to recycle other people’s drawings… bad idea!). I got up to ten minutes of so-bad-it’s-unwatchable footage, but loved the process.
In spite of all this, it was only when I was living in Beijing, after a degree in Oriental Languages obtained at the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy, that I realised my true passion lies with storytelling.

I joined the Beijing Actors Workshop and later the Beijing Film Academy for a one-year course before, in 2008, being accepted on the BA World Performance course at East 15 Acting School in the UK.
During the course, I acted in over fifteen full-length productions and wrote and directed two plays.
After graduating I began making showreels from scratch for actors: I write, shoot and edit three scenes per actor and then put them together into one reel (video portfolio).

My company, One Foot in the Door, has continued to grow over the last eight years. I have created over three hundred showreels, directed over six hundred actors, and now have four editors, two directors, and one writer working for me.
The great thing about working for myself is that it has allowed me to experiment and learn. I have had the chance to improve my skills both as a screenwriter and as a director by making scenes of different styles: from slapstick comedy to hardboiled thriller, from horror to romance.
Thanks to this successful business, I have been able to focus on other projects such as my award-winning short movie, Creation, and my dramedy mini-series #honesty.
