Here are some specific skills that I can use to help you with your project:

Directing
My philosophy as a director is that every choice I make has to keep in mind the effect it has on the audience: who they are, what they want from the movie and what is the best way to accomplish that.
Whether I'm directing a narrative piece, a corporate video or a trailer for a theatre production, focusing on the audience is the best way to ensure the project is successful.
When it comes to narrative projects, I consider myself an actor's director. Thanks to my experience as an actor and the number of actors I have directed (over 600!), I am very confident when it comes to helping them give their very best performance, especially on camera.

I have lots of experience as a self-shooter (all the samples you can see here were shot by me alone), so I also have a good understanding of all the aspects of a production.
Coaching Actors
Helping the actors give a great perfomance is an important and very specialised skill that requires understanding how the acting process works as well as balancing it with the needs of the production.
If you (or a director you hired) are having trouble with that, I can help.
Just to put things into perspective, when I shoot showreels I meet the actors (whom I haven't chosen nor met before) at the location (which I haven't recce'd before) and have only three hours to shoot a scene of 2 to 3 minutes. That means I have only about 30min to rehease after setting up lights and deciding the shots.
Often, the actors I work with don't know how to act for the camera (so I have to teach them) and haven't had a chance to rehearse before. Sometimes they're not even off book...
In spite of all this, I am proud of the performances we manage to create together and have a long list of actors who are very happy of how I directed them, so I'm confident I can help your actors give their best, too.

Teaching (Screen Acting)
By directing over 600 actors in showreel scenes and other projects, I learnt that there are a lot of skills required to adapt one's acting for the camera. Techniques like using volume to create intensity, being always aware of the camera, or being able to adapt the performance to the shot make a huge difference, but are rather tricky to learn and, unfortunately, there are a lot of people preaching that acting for the camera is just a matter of "being smaller". Before the pandemic, I used to teach a screen acting workshop regularly in London and am hoping to restart that soon. I also have an online screen acting course available called Unboxing: Screen Acting. |

Screenwriting
Thanks to the showreels, I've had lots of practice with writing dialogue and am very confident with my skills doing that. You can see some samples here.
As much as I enjoy working on the dialogue, though, I believe that the real skill of a screenwriter lies in the ability to create a strong structure for the story. Over the years I've had a chance to refine my skills at creating strong and detailed story arcs, so I am confident in my ability to do that effectively.

Script Reading
Receiving professional feedback on the script is a fundamental step before getting into production.
As a script reader, I provide feedback identifying the issues in a script, as well as making recommendations to help overcome these problems.
I've been doing this for fellow screenwriters for the last two years and, in February 2016, I took a course in Script Reading with Industrial Scripts.

Script Editing
On top of giving feedback and recommendations on how to improve a script, I can work on it for you and help bring your vision to life.
The first and most important stage is always to work on the overall structure, making sure the story holds together and moves at the right pace, the characters have clear arcs, and the whole thing works as it should.

Video Editing
I work with Adobe Premiere and have the whole set of Creative Suite programs.
I mostly have editors doing the heavy lifting for me, but I always polish my projects myself and sometimes still take care of the whole process.
